STEER-NWE partners gather in Paris to advance integrated e-carsharing solutions

From 19–22 May 2026, the STEER-NWE consortium gathered in Paris for a productive four-day partner meeting hosted by Métropole du Grand Paris (MGP). Bringing together project partners from across North-West Europe, the meeting provided an important opportunity to assess progress, deepen collaboration, and advance preparations for the next phase of the project.

Hosted across several locations in Paris and Montreuil, the meeting combined strategic discussions, practical workshops, and study visits focused on integrated electric carsharing and sustainable urban mobility.

What STEERed the four-days?

The programme opened with a warm welcome from MGP and Institut Paris Region (IPR), followed by a strategic “State of STEER” session led by LIST and Bax, where partners reflected on project progress and upcoming priorities. One of the highlights of the first day was the “Postcards from the Pilots” session, coordinated by WayToGo, during which pilot cities shared first-hand updates on local implementation activities and emerging lessons from the ground.

Partners also took part in a workshop led by POLIS, focusing on how to strengthen STEER’s local and European replication ambitions and build momentum for future uptake of project solutions.

The second day brought partners outside the meeting room and into the urban fabric of the Paris metropolitan area. During a study visit to Montreuil, participants explored local carsharing stations operated by Communauto and Metropolis, while representatives from the municipality presented public space transformation projects and local mobility initiatives.

Back at MGP’s offices, partners gained deeper insight into the metropolitan context through presentations on the Métropole du Grand Paris, its Climate-Air-Energy Plan 2026–2032, and its Low Emission Zone (LEZ) strategy. These discussions highlighted the close relationship between climate policy, air quality management, and mobility planning; the themes central to the STEER project.

Another particularly dynamic moment of the meeting was the “What’s Working (and not)?” good practice exchange. Through an interactive format, partners openly discussed successes, barriers, and transferable lessons from their local contexts, reinforcing the collaborative spirit that underpins STEER.

Day three focused on co-creation and impact assessment, with partners working together during the “What if?” session to explore future scenarios and contribute to the development of STEER’s impact assessment framework.

The final day concluded with a study visit to PullCoo and closing reflections led by LIST, allowing partners to consolidate key takeaways and prepare for the next steps of the project.

The STEER Academy Masterclass

The Paris meeting also marked an important milestone for the project with the launch of the first STEER Academy Masterclass, hosted by L'Institut Paris Region. Bringing together external participants alongside consortium members, the Masterclass featured presentations from Île-de-France Mobilités and Brussels-Capital Region, followed by an interactive workshop on inclusive carsharing services delivered in both French and English. Participants also had the opportunity to meet carsharing operators during a dedicated networking session, creating valuable connections between policymakers, practitioners, and mobility providers.

A sincere thank you goes to Métropole du Grand Paris and L'Institut Paris Region for their excellent hosting, thoughtful organisation, and inspiring programme. The Paris meeting reaffirmed the strong collaboration within the STEER consortium and highlighted the growing momentum behind integrated, inclusive, and sustainable e-carsharing solutions across North-West Europe.
